Class three at Somerlea Park Junior School have recently done a project in their exciting writing lesson where they wrote their own news articles.

I have promised to look over the articles and pick a winner and have also agreed to publish any suitable articles on the Parish Council Web Site.

The standard of work was very high and I finally picked a winner however all of the top eight articles were so good we have published six of them later in this story.

The competition winner was a joint article written between Adam Moss and Nathan Hemsley which told of the departure from the X-Factor of the JEDWARD Twins.

Well done to all pupils who wrote an article, there were some fantastic stories to choose from.

On Saturday John and Edward, better known as Jedward, left X-Factor and town!

The were mad and went home in a shock!

Both 17 Years old from Dublin, Ireland. They left because they were thought to be rubbish singers but it is argued they were great entertainers.

On Tuesday Katie Price walked out of the jungle.

It started on Sunday in the first week of November 2009.

I'm a celebrity get me out of here is on Channel ITV1. It is where campers do challenges and go to exile.

Somerlea Park Junior School Surprise

After Christmas a new teacher will be coming to Somerlea Park Junior School.

The new teacher is called Mr Butler. He is though to be married to Mrs Butler who is the Deputy Head Teacher at the school.

Mr Butler will be teaching class five in year five.

Mr Jones was the old teacher and will be going to another school.

There are many different characters in the school play such as the Shephers, Innkeeper, Mary, Joseph, Kings and the Angels.

We have practised the play every day and are exciting about performing it to our friends and family.

Successful Sport Story

On Tuesday at Somerlea Park Centre footballers played a fantastic game in the after school football club.

In Somercotes every Tuesday a football club takes place in the new Somercotes Centre, with a teacher called Ozzy.

Last Tuesday year 4 and year 6 played against each other it was 1-0 score. Over the weeks different schools sometimes play.
