Walter and Evelyn Hassall of George Street, celebrated their 70^th Wedding Anniversary on St. Valentine’s Day.  Mrs Hassall was born at Riddings and her parents moved to Alfreton when she was 7 months old.  Mr Hassall was born in Stafford.  Mrs Hassall worked at Flycatchers, then for Granwoods, and later for Evans Bakers, initially working in the house, before asking to work in the bakehouse.  She and Mr Hassall  moved to Riddings after their marriage.  They have a son, two grandchildren and four great-granchildren.
