The day started at 10am with Tim Brooks of Groundworks cutting the ribbon to celebrate the re-opening of the ponds after significant improvement works.

Fifty thousand pounds has been invested to provide new pathways and handrails as well as new fishing pegs and floating reed beds.

There were plenty of activities for all the family including a scavenger hunt, face painting, Christmas decoration making, bird box making and heritage walks around the ponds. A big thanks to Pip-A-Roo for providing the facepainting.

After a wet start to the day things soon brightened up and a great time was had by all.

A litter pick also took place to tidy up the area around Pennytown Ponds and several bags of rubbish were removed.

It is hoped another fun day can be organised for spring 2010, keep checking the Parish Council web site for details of forthcoming events.
