Police officers have been making visible patrols in order to ensure that residents and businesses are aware of the new instructions about how to limit the spread of the coronavirus.
FROM DERBYSHIRE POLICE
Most of the interactions involved speaking to people and advising them about how they can best keep themselves, their families and their communities safe.
One well-meaning officer in Derby took it upon themselves to make announcements from their vehicle explaining the measures and asking people to adhere to them. While this was not the way in which we had anticipated the message being delivered, his request, and the information within it, still very much stand.
People should limit their movements as much as possible and should only leave the house for the following reasons:
• shopping for basic necessities;
• for one form of exercise a day;
• for any medical need or to support a vulnerable person
• to travel to and from work when “absolutely necessary”
People are able to assist vulnerable friends or relatives, however, this should be kept to a minimum and social distancing should be maintained at all times.
Where people are outside they should only be in a group of two or more if they are with people who live in the same household.
You can read the latest guidance by following UK government and nhs.uk to keep up with the latest announcement and to learn more about the new instructions.
