On the 11th November 2018, the nation commemorated the 100th anniversary of the end of WW1. v

During that weekend the Parish Council in partnership with Somercotes Local History Group presented an exhibition in the Village Hall.   The exhibition displayed newspapers, letters and other memorabilia from that time. Many local organisation contributed, bringing a very local perspective  to the event.   

On the 11th November a beacon was lit outside the Village Hall as Somercotes took part in the national ‘Beacons of Light’ event.

Both events were well attended with parishioners attending the exhibition and witnessing the lighting of the beacon.
